All the code for one project, taken together. It includes every piece that makes your app work.
The complete collection of source code for a software project, usually along with related files such as settings, tests and scripts. It is typically organized into many files and folders.
One page of a cookbook is a single recipe. The whole cookbook is the codebase: every recipe, the index, and the notes scribbled in the margins.
Agents often need to look around your codebase before making a change. Asking them to understand the existing codebase first leads to changes that fit in, instead of duplicate or conflicting code.
I searched the codebase and found two separate functions that format dates. I'll reuse the existing one instead of adding a third.
Look through the codebase and tell me where the checkout logic lives before you change anything.
Thinking the codebase is just the file you're looking at. A change in one file can affect code in many others.
