Record
also: records, legacy records, existing records
One saved item of data, like a single customer or a single order. In a table, each record is stored as a row.
A single stored entity, such as one user or one invoice. In relational databases a record is a row; in document databases it's a document. "Record" emphasizes the thing itself, "row" the table layout.
A patient's file in a clinic. The file is the record. Whether it lives in a folder or as a line in a ledger is a separate question.
Agents say "records" when real data is involved: "legacy records", "duplicate records", "orphaned records". Those phrases usually mean existing user data is at stake, which is where extra caution pays off.
There are 38 legacy records from before 2023 with no email address. I'll list them for you instead of deleting them.
Find any duplicate customer records that share an email address. Show me the list, and don't merge or delete anything yet.
Thinking a record and a row are different pieces of data. In a table they're the same entry. "Row" is the table view; "record" is the item itself.
