The part of an application people see and interact with: the screens, buttons, text and forms.
The part of an application that runs on the user's device, usually built with HTML, CSS and JavaScript or a framework like React. It displays the interface, handles user input, and talks to the backend for data.
In a restaurant, the frontend is the dining room: the menu, the tables, and the waiter taking your order. It's everything the customer experiences directly.
Problems and changes are often described as "frontend" or "backend". Knowing which side something lives on helps you describe issues clearly and points your agent to the right place.
This is a frontend issue. The server returns the correct price, but the page displays it without the discount applied.
This is a frontend-only change: make the sign-up button larger and green. Don't change how sign-ups are saved.
Thinking the frontend is only about looks. It also checks what people type into forms, reacts to clicks, and asks the backend for data.
