Deprecated

also: deprecation, deprecations, deprecate

Marked as outdated and scheduled for removal. It still works for now, but you should switch to the recommended replacement before it disappears.

a bit more technical

A status given to a function, feature, API, or package version meaning it is discouraged and will be removed in a future release. Tools usually print deprecation warnings that point to the replacement, giving people time to switch.

picture it

A store announcing it will stop accepting paper coupons next year. Your coupons still work today, but if you keep collecting them, you'll be stuck when the change happens.

why it matters

Your agent may ignore deprecation warnings in the terminal, or reuse outdated methods it learned from older code. Deprecated things keep working until one upgrade removes them and your app breaks.

what your agent might say
agent
The email SDK's sendMail() is deprecated and will be removed in v5. I'll switch to the new send() method now, since the arguments are almost the same.
how you might use it
you → your agent
Run the build and list every deprecation warning. For each one, tell me the replacement and whether it's safe to switch now. Don't change anything yet.
common mistake

Thinking deprecated means broken or already gone. It usually still works. It's a warning with a deadline, not an error.
